Every year, family and friends gather at the old Milligan one-room schoolhouse near Jackson, Calif., for the annual Chestnut Roast the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
A person is invited only one time. However, once invited one is on his own to comef to the next Roast.
Many generations come together for this family event. Some bring food, others home-made wine. Port and turkey are cooked in an old metal barrel. About 100-150 come and visit throughout the day. No one leaves with an empty belly.
